Founded in 1915, Black & Veatch is a leading global engineering, consulting, and construction company. When the firm wanted to renovate its world headquarters to add space for more team members and to boost sustainability measures, we were excited that the engineering giant came to Henderson.

Our Henderson Building Solutions team went to work providing commissioning and energy analysis services for the eight-floor, multi-phase renovation. The project included updating the auditorium, conference center, fitness center, a kitchen and cafeteria, and open office spaces.

As an additional challenge, Black & Veatch wanted to reuse much of the original building’s on-site equipment including a main air handler and other components that were nearly two decades old. We successfully reused the equipment and still made the necessary sustainability upgrades the company wanted.

Our team conducted an energy analysis to help the firm achieve LEED certification with models examining the building’s historical utility data and the potential energy savings from different renovation measures and then compared it to an ASHRAE 2007 baseline, which helped determine the LEED credits available for each design alternative.
