HCA Florida Citrus Hospital

Located in the heart of the sunshine state, HCA Florida Citrus Hospital offers its surrounding community more than 60 years of acute care services, 204-beds, 24-hour emergency room care, and more. Committed to compassion, quality, and the improvement of human life, Citrus Hospital was looking to upgrade some of their building systems. Our working relationship with sister hospitals and HCA Healthcare provided Citrus Memorial the confidence needed to bring on Henderson Building Solutions to spearhead these projects.

Henderson led the replacement of seven air handling units (AHUs) with six new systems. This entailed combining two AHUs that shared a mechanical room to drive down maintenance cost, increased efficient air flow, and meet TAB standards. Areas serviced by the replaced AHUs include administrative and all public areas on the first floor, lobbies, front desk, cafeteria, board rooms, multiple OR’s, day surgery, lab, GI, ICU, and procedural rooms.

With a central plant sharing space with multiple systems, we implemented a plan to move the existing fire pump to separate space for NFPA compliance. We installed the prefabricated building, piping, electrical, and tied it into the existing systems. A new medical air system was also added to the facility, removed from its original location of the mechanical room, and moved to a penthouse location with its own room. The medical vacuum added a fourth pump to the existing skid to give the facility necessary equipment redundancy.

These projects were challenged by the necessary COVID-19 protocols added mid-project; however, with our innovative solutions we were still able to complete the project a month ahead of schedule. No change orders were issued, and we ended up returning the client more than $13,000 in project savings.
