Platte County High School, the only high school in the Platte County School District, underwent a comprehensive campus redesign to replace a collection of aging, disconnected buildings that had developed through multiple additions dating back to the 1960s. The previous layout required students to walk nearly 400 yards outdoors to move between adjacent structures, creating safety, accessibility, and operational challenges that made the campus a strong candidate for modernization.
The redevelopment retained only the existing auditorium and introduced new two-story classroom and laboratory spaces, a weight room, a fieldhouse, a baseball field, and expanded parking. The new configuration consolidated academic and athletic functions into a more cohesive and efficient campus environment.
Henderson Building Solutions provided full commissioning services for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to verify that building systems operated as intended and met the performance requirements established during design. Commissioning activities included system testing, verification of equipment installation, and validation of sequences of operation to support long-term reliability and maintainability.
The project also implemented a new building management system with upgraded building monitoring systems (BMS) controls to centralize monitoring and improve day-to-day system operation for facilities staff. The updated controls platform allowed the district to better manage HVAC scheduling, energy use, and system alarms across the expanded campus.
Throughout construction, Henderson coordinated closely with the general contractor and trade partners to align commissioning activities with project milestones and system readiness. This collaboration ensured that issues were identified and resolved early, allowing the commissioning process to be completed thoroughly and the project to be delivered on schedule.
The completed campus provided Platte County High School with integrated building systems, improved indoor environmental quality, and a modern controls platform that supports efficient facility management and long-term operational performance.
