The reimagined David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium marks a new era for Kansas football and the University of Kansas. As part of the Gateway District development, this multiphase project transformed the university’s historic stadium into a state-of-the-art facility that enhances athlete performance, fan experience, and campus connectivity.

Henderson provided mechanical, plumbing, and lighting control commissioning services to verify that all systems performed as intended. Working under an accelerated construction schedule, the team helped ensure the stadium was ready for operations three weeks before the first game. When air accumulation in the chilled water system disrupted performance, we partnered with project stakeholders to identify the issue, install automatic air bleeders, and restore efficient conditioning.

Despite the demanding timeline and complex coordination, the project was completed on schedule and met KU’s operational goals. The renovated facility now includes expanded athlete areas, improved accessibility, new premium seating, and a completely updated fan experience. A little over 33 months after the initial vision was announced, the reimagined David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium officially reopened when the Kansas Jayhawks hosted Fresno State in their home field opener for the 2025-2026 football season.

This project builds on Henderson’s long-standing relationship with the University of Kansas and showcases the team’s ability to deliver reliable, high-quality results on projects that inspire community pride and elevate the game-day experience.
