Sustainable design and construction are consistent themes for Liberty Mutual Insurance. The company’s campus outside of Dallas is home to its eighth LEED certified building.

The two-tower structure has 19 stories and houses nearly 4,000 Liberty Mutual employees. There’s retail space, a parking garage, and a mezzanine level that connects the towers. The campus is served by a 2,500-ton fully redundant central plant.

Henderson Building Solutions was the commissioning agent and the owner’s representative through construction. Our longtime partner, KDC Real Estate & Investments, engaged us in the project. KDC led the core and shell construction, and Liberty Mutual Insurance assumed ownership through tenant improvement.

We performed integrated systems testing, loss of power simulations, and radio frequency tests. Plus, our team did the testing and documentation necessary for LEED certification.

The building design and construction incorporated green materials, and on a daily basis, the structure uses energy efficiency and water conservation methods. Keeping with the company’s impressive sustainability track record, the Liberty Mutual Plano campus building is certified LEED Silver.
