Every day, the force patrols more than 5,200 miles of roadways and protects the area’s nearly 500,000 residents. The KCPD strives to build trust with the community, and to provide members of the department with the best equipment and technology available. The KCPD’s 70-year-old headquarters needed to be renovated and parts of it expanded.

Henderson Building commissioned the new space complete with an open main floor to foster community interaction and collaboration. One of the project challenges Henderson Building faced was a dated underfloor air distribution system with significant pressurization issues. Our team anticipated the problem and quickly resolved it during construction.

Serving the people of Kansas City and protecting the area’s roadways never stops. It was important for us to keep the police headquarters open and accessible during the nine phases of construction.

Regular air quality testing ensured we kept department members safe as we renovated the headquarters in a way that honored officers for their service, and reflected their passion and dedication to the Kansas City community.
